Remember the dolly pegs
We made into a gun,
Shooting the Indians
How the cowboy always won,
Hide and seek in the house
Getting scared in the cellar,
It was full of old junk
And dad's old plane propeller,
We used to play shops
With soup cans and bread,
"12 and a half pence Miss"
The 'shopkeeper' said,
Monsters in the garden
Hidden in the shed,
You crept up to it slowly
With a feeling of dread,
Quietly did it
You tried touching the door,
Then the monsters jumped out
With a mighty big roar,
Boys chasing girls
Holding things they would find,
Mostly a stick dipped in something
The dog left behind,
Girls chasing boys
Shouting "come and get this",
If ever they did
They'd get a wet kiss,
Imagination ran wild
Our spirits ablaze,
We played wonderful games
Yes those were the days!

They sure were the days, plenty of sunshine, running free, and we had to use our imagination. We were always sent outside to play, often not returning until it was time to eat.
Wonderful rhyme and flow.
