A kiss on the cheek as I turn away.
But it's as empty as the pain reliever
sitting on my bedside
[and you and I both know]
that giving your all isn't good enough
when it comes to chasing dreams.
[I'm chasing dreams]
and fireflies when my mind nails down
plot
[set scene; final act]
when you lean over and kiss me
like I'm Juliet and realize a second
too late that you're Paris.
["Paris Falls"]
Paris fails.
It's all I can do to
breathe
as the story unfolds and you can
see in me all that I can't be.
And though I'm crying,
the dream begins
[when will it end?]
and he steps from the ocean
like a wave crashing in.
And before I can reach him;
another over laps him and
erases his fingerprints from the
delicate sand.
[and I ask you quietly if you]
Remember the water tower where
we used to sit and
whisper our secrets to the
w o r l d ?

A rich piece, though slightly arcane, it is chock full of vibrant and sharpe images...well done piece of work here! bravo!!!

This was wonderfully done. I didn't think it as sad as it was meant to seem though. It was well written and the word choice was pleasantly done, so I thought it was awesome. Great job and good luck in my contest.

Oh wow. This may have been the best piece I've read in awhile. It was ... poignant. You really managed to hit on what I was feeling. Thank you.
