my words

There was no way of knowing
what I would say to you,
what I would tell you,
how I would expose myself
to you.

Until the pen slid across the pages,
the empty baron pages
of your sweet and precious time...

and until my fingers danced,
a luna-midnight dance
through the keyboard
of your celestial body

quietly

touching you,
teasing you,
tempting you,

pleasing you.

Perhaps...not in the way that you wanted,
but in the only way that I know how...

with my words,
my starving, lonely, forgotten,
simple minded

words.
Carefully crafted
for your silhouette
and your eyes

nervously watching
and waiting for you to envelop them,
absorb them,
comprehend them
and enjoy them
to your core.

To stay inside of you
forever.

I could so identify with this poem, because it reminded me of a time when I was perhaps 14, and unsure as to how to proceed with a friendship that was experiencing rough waters - and so, with a heart full of trepidation, I wrote him a poem, to try and put my thoughts to words....

And then gave it to him that night, making him promise not to read it until I was gone home - and he was touched, far more than I imagined he would be, and, would you believe, still has it - as I gave it to him, written out and this is now some 10 years later... How time flies...

Your poem awoke all these memories in me, and I thank you for that - you wrote it beautifully, with a swirling flow that I think many people might actually be able to identify with, as we've all written poems for other people at some stages of our lives!

    Thanks for entering
