I watch the splintered glass
spiral slowly downwards
like a million barbed snowflakes
that slice my outstretched tongue.
Inane giggles irrupted
from my constricted throat
as I spun among
the broken shards.
I watched a shadow
of a mourned memory
drop
from the open sky
and crashed through
the chipped concrete.
She jumped
and tried to touch
the summer stars
but flawed like Icarus
she fell to the earth.
