where love so grows,
like the new dew kissed petals
on a rose.
This angel so found
left near the dumpster one day,
so cold and rainy baby Tessa
had been thrown away.
There was a stray dog
hungry and shivering came near,
found this little angel
and for a moment the dogs eyes peered.
Gently it took the child's blanket
within its teeth,
and pulled her close for warmth
for love she did need.
Beneath the overhang in the alley,
this wild animal showed such love.
Found one day by a passer by ,
and carefully the child he picked up.
The dog was never seen again,
they looked for him , once the child was safe.
Must have been her guardian angel,
the news did say.
Baby Tessa from the time
she was able to walk,
gave such care to the animals
and to all she would talk,
She gave them treats
to help them on their way,
and was so surprised one summers day.
It was a joining of hearts
for one scruffy looking dog,
he came running to Tessa
from beneath a country road log.
Tail wagging and he nuzzled his nose
about her there,
and the look in that old dog eyes
Tessa knew was once shared .
It's miracles that happens every day,
where love is given in such unusual ways.
Could be old souls to give love
where love was never seen,
and God bless all the animals
who brings forth such a dream.
Author notes
God bless the children and the animals of our world and I pray that this world will give up drugs for it is the alcohole and drugs that is leaving these precious babies behind and aborted today . If you live then the offspring you bring forth has every right to live as well .You have no right to choose death of another . That decision is in your actions before the child is formed . You did have a choice to make love or not now if you are with child dont abort dont toss that precious angel away give birth to that child and see that it is given to a family that cant have children their are so many out here today who would love that child all their life . Be the one to save that child for each are Gods children the gift of life to be loved

What a lovely story. I have heard of many such stories where animals have saved babies and young children. I was one of those children myself; a sad and lonely child who was emotionally abandoned and neglected. The animals took me into their family when I was two years old. They have always been my true family. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is beautifully written!

P.S. It wasn't my dear mother's fault; for you see she had been seriously harmed as a young child. She was not as lucky as I to find love, solace and companionship in the animals. Although she always did care for them.

This is a beautiful poem, Patty... so sad at the beginning but soon turned to protection and love. This poor dog must indeed have been this baby's guardian angel. A wonderful ending, to have them reunited and their spirits acknowledge what they had meant to each other.
Best of luck in the contest, this one is surely a winner
