Defeating The Phantoms Of Lunacy.

Missing image
The walls are closing in
as the last remnants of sanity
bleed away into the shadows.

Spectres of light
claw like living cadavers,
their robes washing through
my river of bloodstained memories
that haunt,
night and day.

Mere pretence at a light
showing me the path
to peace and release,
these apparitions
plunder and destroy.

I am gagging on my own sorrow
and have severed the chords
of the raging beast within.

I have finally won,
outsmarting the visions
attempting to corrode all  reason,
beating that constant steady rhythm
of subjugation.

Now this poem here I can say I relate too very much. Your poem and the picture made the hairs stand up behind my neck, somewhat chilling.
It brought back memories of when I was in prison.
You did so well with this, all the best in the contest

    Ken
