I find the dust pools
Around my conscious mind
Screaming for reprieve
Counting days that pass me by.
I find the memories fade
Into a constant flood of fear
That the rest of my life
Will be locked away in here.
Trapped within the consequences my actions bring
I find the world inside me weeping
Wasting into a nothingness of being
I find the truth is not redeeming.
I know the days of contemplation
Behind the walls of no tomorrow
Alone in my repentance
Drown in seas of selfish sorrow.
I know I can't forget yesterday's beauty
Locked into today's forsaken abode
Wondering how I was ever led
Down this dark, enchanting road.
Wishing this endless nightmare gone,
I find the prisoner inside my scheming.
Wanting to breathe of liberation,
I find the freedom inside me dreaming.
I believe my will is broken
By the color of my fate
I see the rest of my life before me
Like a calendar without dates.
I believe I wake for my lost soul
Outside the gate of true salvation
I see my ultimate demise
Like a constant revelation.
Looking back, beyond the lure of darkness,
I find a child inside me crying.
And as the months melt into years
I find the man inside me dying.

Thanks
I appreciate the kind words... I wanted to give you one of my favorites. I'm glad you liked it. I started writing when I was 15 (wrote this when I was 20). Don't ever get discouraged, stay true to yourself, and just let the words flow. Again, thanks, and it's nice to have an opportunity to share poetry with those who care about it. -
