it's not about that moment of acceptance
it's not about the grasping of brilliance
or knowing all there is to know
it's quite simple in fact
it's not about you
life tends to throw us down these cliffs
and when everything seems to be going downhill
it rises again
but that's not what it's about either
you think you know someone
then they betray you
then true love sweeps you off your feet
causing all those painful memories to go away
again my deary, not what it's about
life is an inequality
it has no real meaning
it holds no real truth
what you strive to realize
is that there is only life
an idea so simple by nature
but so complex for our fragile minds to understand
always seeking the truth of it
but deep inside we all know the truth
the truth is, that there is no truth
because truth is nothing but someone's opinion of an event
if taken from another perspective
it can be a fallacy
alas no one thinks the same
leading to the misfortune of many a soul
leading to the redemption of many a person
but all this strife
it's not what it's about
you want to know what it's about?
to finally grasp your hands on that eternal bond?
the only thing I can leave you with is this
life is everything and nothing
life is joy and sorrow
life is truth and lie
there is nothing which can be done to undo the past
but all that can happen to alter the future
for reality is our own
and fantasy is everyone's

"The meaning of life is that it has no meaning." (LOL)
Oh my God, I love your piece- it is everything I'm looking for!
Thank you so much for such a thought-provoking write- "life is everything and nothing"- this line just hits so close to home... yes, sometimes, it is like life is so full of wonder, joy, meaning...but in a moment, everything can just be taken away. Life is as life does.
I love this stanza too,
"the truth is, that there is no truth
because truth is nothing but someone's opinion of an event
if taken from another perspective
it can be a fallacy".
Perhaps you might want to take a look at what I've written (kinda inspired by my own contest title haha)- http://allpoetry.com/poem/4911761.
It puts a positive spin to the whole notion of 'Life'... but ah well, this universe is so vast, and we're but a mere speck of dust in it.
Great poem again, and thank you for your entry! All the best to you.
