first,
it was the eyes--
as wide
and clear as oceans,
gold rings
circling their bottoms.
after centuries
of waiting,
a flood of lotus flowers
rose to the water's surface
and all that lay before me,
I could not touch.
and all that lay above me,
required bodily
severing.
even I
sometimes know
what I want,
but my hesitance
watched every offering
withdraw.
and after all
the golden palms
were gone,
the words
climbed
out:
no,
I don't have
any doubts
