An ancient philosophers noted:
"It is said that humans are more miserable then donkeys,
because we at least are responsible for our own fate"
But, I wonder if that truth still applies.
Man and beast are both driven by necessity and want.
Time seems to have spiraled out of control.
Instinctively we move at such a pace,
that the attitudes of solitude and contemplation are lost.
Unless we make a concentrated effort to slow down.
we will loose all perspective,
random acts appear to outnumber thoughtful actions.
Do we then carry diminished responsibility for our acts,
perhaps, perhaps not.
Yet I believe in order to remain human,
we must own our actions.
If not, I fear for our humanity.
And the donkey treads the world in its measured pace,
unmoved by the rat race we untertake
