I want to be difficult, unreadable
and most of all I don’t want you to be able
to read my future by looking at my palms.
the first time you tried
I remember seeing the frown
and hearing the lies spill from your mouth
you said ‘your hands are so dry’
and I replied ’it’s the winter air’
while thinking about how
your eyes gave it all away.
you left soon after,
mumbling something about fate
and the difference in our stars
and scar tissue.
-I believed that physical pain
was a great outlet for the emotional kind
and I don't think I want to stop.
