The House

The window in that house was always closed
And the front door
That showed all of the family positions was always open.
No one was seen entering or leaving the house,
But the newspaper was delivered, and recycled.
No one dared to approach the house.
Some say that it was haunted,
Some say that they just did not have air conditioning.

Author notes

This poem is meant to be looked at closely and studied looking for metaphors and hidden meaning. (I know it is not technically a love poem.) If you are having trouble, look for reasons why a window would be closed and a door open etc....

A contest entry

It is a very rough draft, as in the first one.

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

I think I understand the meaning of this piece. I thank you for giving me a challenge in this contest. I love straight forward poems but it's fun trying to find the meaning of things that people right. That is one of the great things about poetry; taking one thing that seems so simple and underlying it with a meaning that is deeper than it could seem to be.
It really did take me a while to decipher the entire thing (if I do, in fact, have it correct).
    Bravo and thank you.
Good job, good luck, and keep up the great writing!
