Infant divine:
tender eyes soared all skies;
fragile fingers revived broken ties;
tiny heart throbbed Love
of the sacred Dove.
Golden grain's
ripened Sun
turned river's frost
to flowing gloss;
Body and Blood
to bread
and wine;
crossed out
sorrow and loss.

Art: Chancel Cross by David J. Hetland
Sverdrup Lutheran Church
http://www.hetland.com/stnglass/cross.shtml
This Sverdrup chancel cross measures approximately eight feet by 10 feet and has a framework fashioned of welded tube steel with inserts of opalescent glass and gold mosaic. It is mounted directly to the wall with one-inch spacers for added dimension.
Shaped to repeat the gothic arches of the sanctuary windows, this cross was designed to reflect the rural, agricultural influence of the Underwood area with flowing water and fish, birds lazily floating in the sky, verdant furrows ripening to golden fields and waving shafts of grain. At center is the Holy Spirit depicted as a dove, aflame to signify both warmth and light -- its halo resembling the sun and serving as a sign of God's eternal presence among us.
REJOICE! He birthed our Eternal Life.

wonderful interpretation of this beautiful stained glass piece. I love that it "crosses out" sorrow and loss. Happy Holidays and Congratulations.

A centered poem beneath
a unique Cross. There is symbolic intensity economically embedded in both painting and poem. The fertility of Earth; the coming of Emmanuel as a Babe; the Death and Resurrection and the blessing of the Holy Spirit are wonderfully wedded in this Christian Christmas poem.
Remarkable, poet.

What a striking cross and beautiful artwork of words to accompany it. Your piece soars itself with hope and love, flutters the heart with the thoughts and feelings of the Truth, the Friend who sacrificed for us. Well done.
