After blocking for so long,
I have no one else to thank but the great kernel,
Who, in great wisdom, interrupted my predecessor
And swapped me back into core
What a great NMI has occurred this day,
What a sanguine signal of hope,
The scheduler has prevailed again,
And the running state is mine!
Let there be no deadlocks,
Let starvation be no more!
As you restore my registers,
And relocate the stack,
This I shall implore
And please, do not renice me,
Though my process, it is long.
Shall this be a productive timeslice?
We'll see, as time goes on.
None are immune to SIGSTOP or SIGKILL,
And it is my hope not to catch SIGILL,
Neither smash my stack or let my buffers spill;
Of this, I can only dream
But I shall be suspended,
Though I never intended,
To so suddenly acquire I/O
I'll see you again,
As my block sets in,
I shall sleep(), and you shall know
