today I read poetry

today I read poetry
in the smallest of things

like the leaky faucet
with it’s miniature rainstorm
a-patter on the stainless steel,
the steady ping-ping of each drop
was reliable & I found myself thinking
‘I was here for the last ping’ -

there’s a skewered security in that thought,
on any other day I’d wrap a dishcloth
around the offending metal
amidst sailor curses
& finger flexes

but not today

today I read poetry

This entrigues some very deep thoughts such as simple as ones you have written of here. I love that it was thought provoking and I found this to be a very lovely, peaceful and quite beautiful piece. Thank you for a wonderful read oh and the little laugh

Yay! I'm so happy that you've written something for this! It's been so long since you've posted anything, I was getting worried, lol.
Onto the piece itself, it is fantastic. I can't even think of any words to describe this, and I love the way that it made me feel.
Your opening line completely woke me up to what was coming. I've missed your writing so much!!

Thank you for entering and best of luck.

lol, I am the same way when I can't write. It's like your brain is crammed with so many different thoughts and you can't sort them all out, even when you're trying to put it on paper.
But this is wonderful, it looks and reads beautifully, nothing like a turd. lol.
