"Distress"

Darkness hovers to take control
It's been waiting for just the right time
When insecurity, rears it's head
Suffocating, happiness from my mind

To escape the heavy blanket of tears
Won't happen, illusion just toying
Allowing feelings, beginning to form
But before they errupt, it destroys them

Exhausted from grasping, for something not there
Leaves a soul, cold and turning to stone
A product created and placed in my head
To torment me, when I am alone

A day will come, when the ache will subside
And this pain in my heart, will give rest
The comfort I need, will be in the past
And no longer will feel the distress

I like the way this poem was written. One day comes for all, doesn't it? I like the way you captured sadness here.

Thanks for entering & good luck!
