Time, my ever hateful foe, and friend.
Restless nights I stay awake; unstable,
trying to fall asleep, I can not succumb.
The temptation, beckoning me to come forth.
I stand on edge, my eyes set afire, burning.
My sub consciousness takes control.
I fear I can not tell the difference,
what is real and yet, what is not.
Looking up to heavens light, I pray to God;
and curse his name all the same.
This burden, this disease,
Insomnia. . .

I think that was a good way of describing hateful insomnia =)

Sometimes, Insomnia is quite the blessing, lol, as long as you're productive . . . but when you're like me, watching the Hallmark channel, and eating expensive swiss chocolate, then not so much.
But I definately see the other side of this, regardless of my ill-timed humour. And this is an amazingly descriptive poem that cuts to the heart of it.
Good luck.

Great take on the problem I've had since I was two. About 3.5 hours a night and not all at the same time, though it gives me time to write. But it takes a toll just today I almost got hit by a car not paying attention thank god for friends. Best of luck to you in the contest and getting to sleep, Boog

So true...
"My sub consciousness takes control.
I fear I can not tell the difference,
what is real and yet, what is not."
I understand this so well... its hard to tell where a dream ends and reality begins. Amazing poem, well done. Thank you for the entry and good luck!
