A Love Poem by Pablo Neruda

Pablo, lend me your voice
Then I can sing to my love
In words like waves

Your muse flies to me
Like a gull on the dawn
To caress my coarse poems, buffering them
In your ghost tides and smoothing them
Into shining trinkets

My love will hold them to his ear
And my words will repeat in his heart
Flowing like yours have into mine

Sliding onto his skin like moonlight
Lapping against him
Again...
Again...
Again...

Riding into his chest
And up through his veins,
Like waves that curl upon themselves
Far from shore rising and turning and speeding inwards
Spiraling orgasmically into themselves, my words
Now arriving on the beach, spend themselves
In their last efforts to touch
The bosom of earth

You will make my words that water
Sighing  and at last rolling back a soft echo,
“I love you...”
“I love you...”
“I love you...”
