Old Friends

Missing image

We talk as old friends do, bringing near the empty mile,
I feel so close to her, picturing that wistful smile,
she tells me of her woes, as I tell her too of mine,
such friendship bears rich fruit, and endures like finest wine.

We talk of this and that as the distances decrease,
unburdening our thoughts, we both find a sweet release,
old friends stay ever near, unique treasures buried deep,
we say our late goodnight's, knowing love will never sleep.

What a heartfelt tribute to a friendship. All friends need to be reminded of the special spot they hold in our hearts, and I'm sure yours was deeply touched.

    Love,
    Stacy

    My Dear.....

    .....Mountainous person,
This is a bit schmulzy (can't be bothered to look up the spelling!) for me.
Call me a nasty old prick if you like, but, in my opinion, real friends don't need telling this sort of obsequious garbage!
    Robin.
PS and NO, my NYR was not to be even MORE horrid to people!

True friends don't need telling things like this, BUT, they do like it!!!

      Try it sometime

        Dear Bradmanjeff,
Forgive me, but I don't think it's your place to jump in and advise me about something which, frankly, is none of your business!
I was critiquing a poem written by a FRIEND - one whom I hope is big enough to take my criticism as it was intended - to IMPROVE her (IMHO).
Whether you agree with my critique or not is irrelevant - it was aimed at Hilary. It is not for you to attempt to defend her - she is quite capable of doing that herself.
The fact is, that the above poem is schmultzy (still can't be bothered to look up correct spelling!), and not up to her usual standards. If you disagree with that, then you're WRONG IMHO!
NB Hills, if you're listening, or reading, ALSO goodnights is thus, WITHOUT the hyphen - unless, of course, your champion Bradmanjeff disagrees, in which case, leave it in!
Also, Bradmanjeff, I have absolutely NO intention of "trying it sometime"!
        Do you know WHY?
        Because it's false, AND sycophantic!
As a matter of interest Bradmanjeff, I NEVER listen to what people say, I listen to what they MEAN!
NOW do you and Hills get my drift?
        R.

    Thank You

Thank you for such beautiful words and poem.

I am very honoured that your first poem of 2009 should be a dedication written especially for me. We've seen both good and bad times over the years and I have no doubt we shall see more, but we will always be there for each other...cos that's what true friends are for.

The picture and background are very apt but not as wonderful as the large vase of freesias that you sent me and are now sitting on my table and giving me immense pleasure.

Thank you Moonie, this comes with all my love

    Your friend always

    Suz (Sunshine)

    xxxxxxx

Really lovely words for a good friend. May your friendship go on and on as you have nothing more precious outside of your family. Sheila
