She was rich and beautiful
Her life was pampered and complete
Her world was sheltered and perfect
But it was all so bittersweet
He was just small-town boy
He didn't have a cent
Despite the things he never had
His time was very well spent
On the outside, she had it all
And nothing did he own
But her loneliness lacked true happiness
And he was never alone
They met, they kissed, they had their bliss
They thought it was love a first sight
They knew it was fate by the looks in their eyes
Their future seemed so bright
Her family chose to split them up
They had nothing else to do
She thought she fell in love again
He began a second love, too
He worked diligently on their dream house
While the perfect wedding, she planned
He thought about her every day
But she planned her wedding grand
One day she had a rude awakening
And found her long last love
Fate kicked in again that day
It was some blessing from above
She dumped her perfect, lovely life
To gain her happiness, true
The two had not a thing in common
But they started their life anew
Author notes
I'm sorry, but for lack of a better title I used the title of this contest. It just seemed to fit though. This is sort of based of the movie "The Notebook." I love that movie and I thought it would be appropriate to base this poem off of it.
