the lively candle
gives off a butterfly's flame
it hurts to stay still
when the sky calls your name
wasted time drips from her wings
delaying her time of flight
the candle burns with timid fire
maddened by its fading light
the flame hears but doesn't speak
the dangers of the sky has rendered her weak
the shell of infinity sounds the ocean's call
but the tired flame is afraid to fall
her withering wings remain closed and torn
her shriveled dreams awaiting to be born
the flames disperse but she still shines
as her wings develop familar designs
her hopeful wings are ready to be free
her daring dreams are becoming a reality
the welcoming wind relieves her mind
leaving all her restrictions behind
with wings born to fly
she sheds the past to the floor
once upon a flame
a butterfly learned to soar
