toughened meat
that fools the eye
with softer skin
i am the wolf in
furry clothing
until
i grew up
i stopped playing dress up
i pulled on my big girl panties
and i dealt with it
years start running
long before we even know
we are on the track
so we are all a little behind
slow down
relax
my 9th skin
got brought in
this past new years eve
clinging to an old soul
and new idealizations
of what might become
of myself
looking back
is no longer an option
i took a butcher knife
to the brain
i took a hack saw
to the heart
dissecting myself
in the most peculiar of ways
to stay one step ahead
of my already distorted image
so as to say to the world
fuck you
for all that you could not do for me
fuck you
for all that you did do
this year will be better
in that my demons
cannot follow me
this time
i have exorcised ghosts
i have salted all the slugs
and i am coming up
on two days clean
of all the bad things
that was before
a toast to the new year
the new me
and the new future
in which i envision
a warrior

Excellent piece!!! I love the raw depth to this, as the emotion here seems to simply stream in a flow, powerful and filled with a certain hope. Great angst, very well spoken. Thank you so much for your entry!
