Something human

Treat me like I'm blind
Just trying to cope with life
If I must imagine things to help me get through
What business is it of yours?
Harsh words, inflammatory sermons
Self-important voices that inspire, or discourage us
Guilt and hope
Tears and blood
Why do we believe?
I think it's good for me
At a loss for words
No response to logical arguments
Only faith
Faith is believing in things unseen
It does not claim to be scientific
It dwells within us like a mystery
We need only be cautious
What we allow to move our faith
Because it is so dear
So precious a treasure
That gives us hope.

Author notes

Just what I think of my spirituality and what it means for any person. Hope it makes some sense.

  • Well, the honesty of this write definetly deserves appluase, if not a standing ovation. It doesn't read a lot like a poem but rather like a lot of good and raw material for a poem, a bit fragmented. So you believe turning to faith cannot be a rational decision? it's a matter of faith? Interesting.

I like the sentiments so clearly exprssed in this and thought that the choice of vocabulary was well suited to both the tone and mood established. However, I'm not overly sure of the structure throughout. I'm a great advocate of free verse but still feel punctuation can sometimes aid the flow and help the reader to really understand and interpret your words. Far be it from me to suggest line breaks etc but perhaps if you played about with the punctuation etc you might find it flows more smoothly. Regardless, thanks for sharing and I liked the imagery created throughout.
