In This New Year...

I think I am going to
Filter out
More of the slime and debris
And offer up more sunshine.

The lows and highs
Of my life
Will still fluctuate
In vivid hues

But I will concentrate on those that
Carry with them something
That motivates good.

I will cup the juice with both hands
Of joy & light, of strength & faith
Find the kind - push the limits

To frame the exquisite
Dewdrop moisture of baby kisses

Savor the delicate aroma
Of a sigh
After a good meal

Lean into the blinding anticipatory avalanche
Of silence just after a fantastic concert
And just before an encore.

I hereby determine to create & present
Each word-gift in such a way –
That you will want to roll it around on your tongue,
Masticate & digest it, until
Like heat from a warm hearth –
It must metamorphosis smiles, hope, & beauty -
From melancholy, broken & discouraged hearts –

This brand New Year of my life
Within the song of the poetry I write.

And I will begin now.

Author notes

there are always bad times, there will continue to be downs, and I will probably ooze them out onto paper, as I have in the past. But perhaps, with this voicing of resolve, I will achieve more success in inspiring rather than disparing over the minutia of my life.

    Wonderful Write

I think there are always rewards that we reap when we look at life in such a joyous way through all of life’s ups and down you have such a refreshing whimsical flair nestled inside this post that I enjoyed reading your work very much indeed. I loved the cadence throughout that alone gifted this work with a most wonderful full flow I think for me the biggest smile came reading these three lines…

”Lean into the blinding anticipatory avalanche
of silence just after a fantastic concert
    and just before an encore.”

This is a wonderful write my heartfelt thank you for this most lovely post.
