they go starving, swooned;
lost chlorophyll,
shedding leaves to survive on bones;
sucking bare minimum
whispering plight in hushed tones.

oh this is so eerie and chilling,
i love it.
the idea of trees "wishpering to each other in hushed tones" sends a shiver down my spine. you hold excellent imagery throughout and leave the reader in awe.
and i'm quite impressed with myself for knowing what chlorophyll is! Science can come in handy sometimes!
best of luck in the contest!!
