little feather-foot

weaves hours into guttural triolets
cocky little trumpetter!

Author notes

This is my little perky rooster, Goudjie, that makes my day joyous and zesty. He is also the father of the New Year's Baby, GG http://allpoetry.com/poem/4916665

I am a mimic; can do rooster quite well. have run peacocks silly on my dad's farm, looking for the other rival male... We have a video where one runs the roof line from one side of the house to the other. I go through the house, step out call twice, and bolt back to the other side. The bird would look and call... the two calls are not easily distinguished. I once was in florida and got between two large cages of lemurs and began calling. I got both cages roaring at each other; very impressive amount of noise. Janet was discharged from the hospital, they could do no more. She is in a nursing home, they have money enough for two months with a therapist there from a mineral lease sold this year.

This one reminds me of my childhood and my home yard full of hens and chickens. Beautiful animal, I am sure that he is a great morning herald and musician

He looks like one of those types who likes early mornings and watching the sun rise. I like the descriptions you used. Nicely done.

Your rooster is beautiful and, I'm sure, rules the roost. Rather like our cat Zoey who is in charge of most things around the house.

What a wonderful poem! What a great picture.

I'd only put one t in trumpeter myself. I see it can be spelt with two as a surname. Maybe you should give Goudje a surname as well? Goudje Trumpetter? Perhaps a wee bit cumbersome for a rooster.
Only joking. He's a fine looking specimen. And if he really smells like roast coffee beans, pepper and flax, then I'd have him aboot the hoose any day.
    Happy New Year.
