Slaughtered Dreams on an August Night

Sprawled across the grass
Staring up at the stars,
Sunrise is hours away.
Smiles light our faces,
Overlaying the darkness in your heart.

Weeks could pass by
With you by my side.
While whistling winds fly past
We wait for a shooting star,
Or maybe for a break in the silence.

Hills nearby imply my insignificance.
Heads cocked back,
Hoping for more than one night of bliss.
Holding onto these moments,
Out of fear of the memories fading too quickly.

If only you cared as much as
I do for you,
If only you could stare
Into my eyes.
Only- you won’t turn your head towards mine....

Author notes

Lying on the grass on an August night, next to a guy I thought I liked.... Just admiring the beauty of the stars. Never wanted the night to end. Always recall it so easily. Never looked towards me, though. I could never be sure of his feelings at that moment, without being able to look into his eyes....

    TOUCHING!!!!!

It is still a precious moment when two can silently share the world about them.'s Sometimes words need not be said, just a feeling between the two unspoken yet felt. Maybe one day he will respond and you will know what you seek.'s
