The Believer

Missing image

Draped in earthly woe,

her garments hang on bone;

she clutches her faith, a rarity,

as hunger keeps her going

through the blinding haze

of smoke-filled, putrid skies

and fields of wanton waste;

ashen dreams cross distant

ravaged, blackened lands

carried by the believer

in war-torn, bloodied hands;

and faithless, absent-colored eyes

watch her in weary silence,

until the sun goes dark.

    Exceptionally Good!

    This is an awesome poem, Cynthia! The visuals and emotions are exceptionally vivid: you place the reader by that believer's side. And, I know how she feels. Incredibly well written. God gives it His gold stamp!

    Much love in Christ, BonnieQ
