You held me in your arms today,
felt the same as years ago.
For the first time since last,
I felt safe, loved, and worriless.
For a moment I felt no pain.
We shared our memories and some laughs.
Your hand brushed mine ever so gently,
and it sent shivers down my spine.
My hand fit perfectly in yours,
and your soft lips grazed mine.
We connected on a level higher than heaven,
and something in my heart whispered love.
I wanted you to never let me go.
Hours flew by and before we knew it,
the time to part had come our way.
We embraced, kissed, and then you left.
I couldn't get you off my mind,
so there you stayed all night long.
Memories of today and the past,
drifting through my mind so peacefully.
I couldn't wait to talk to you again.
When you sent the text saying you chose her,
I'll admit my walls came crashing down.
You chose her over me and it hurt like hell.
It was in that moment that I made up my mind,
the thought brought peace to my heart and mind.
I told you that if you're happy I'm happy,
but I had something else on my mind.
When things went wrong with her again,
I'd be here patiently waiting to soothe your wounds.
I'd wait a lifetime to be with the one I love.
No matter how long it takes,
I'll be waiting to hold you in my arms.
No matter how long it takes,
I'll be waiting to give you all my love.
In the meantime I'll still be here,
talking you though the hard times.
Bettering myself to be the best I can be.
Patiently waiting for the day that you'll be mine,
no matter how long it takes.
I'll be waiting.

This poem is as others have stated bittersweet and I think everyone has been through this or will go through this in their lifetime. I've really connected to this poem because I've been there and I'm still waiting but that's no fault but my own. You did an excellent job with this marvelous masterpiece. I wish you luck with him. Keep up the excellent work and may God bless you always in everything you do and write.

this was truly incredable! I personly think that way, if the person I love is happy I am happy, all the guys I like/liked knew me but never knew how I felt. I see them happy with someone else and it is kinda bitter sweet, like how your poem is bitter sweet. only you hold on to the hope that he will tire if her and come back, more power to yeah!

I really like this. It's so bitter sweet. Sweet at the beginning and end and bitter betrayal sandwiched in it. Very well-written. I love it!
