The Grove

I've been entrusted with a soul,
Something of beauty, something sacred,
But in this grove I am not lost, not confused.
Has this world really forsaken me,
Or have I forsaken it in turn?
I've cast myself into the wind
And chilled my soul,
Running away from my duty.
A duty that will reap rewards to last a lifetime.
The trees of this grove have become my sanctuary,
Just a mere animal among their majestic growth.
Just an animal going about its feral business,
Gaining no enlightenment from the morning sun,
Only concerned with the change in the environment.
Am I animal or am I human?
Civilized or feral?
Is there any difference?
It makes no difference to the grove.
Do we not live in a feral civilization,
And do the animals not answer to a civilized sense of barbarity?
But love is not impossible,
Animal or human... monogomy and promiscuity both...
And dreams fade into silence,
Either unspoken or unacknowledged
But the morning sun promises an eternity of beauty,
For us human animals going about our sacred duty.

Very nicely done. It always fascinates me to see where one will take the words in a word bank. Even more so because it something I have not meen able to master myself.
    Yes, this works quite well.
    Nicely done.

luuuurvely, nikki.... Yay. I've been hoping for a new poem from you (I've always adored your writing style), and I really like this . You wax philosophic at times in this, which is something I love, and as always it evokes a rich tapestry of images and ideas. Brilliant. ^_^
