The hour has come and I must depart.
I leave you by the door that separates us for what appears an eternity
The night is dark and I trod quickly staying off the bitter cold
Through my door, and there…no warmth, just silence.
In a small chair I recline and there in my heart I hold you in sweet embrace,
And in my soul I smell the sweetness of your hair. (So cold the night.)
With eyes closed, I gaze into your eyes and there I find the sweet sparkle of a morning sunrise
And my heart sings. I long for the softness of your cheek, for the grace of the curve of your neck.
I open my eyes, for I feel that you are there…but darkness invades my dream and silence
is broken as angles cry and the walls about me begin to scream. (So cold the night.)
