Love lurks around every corner,
Waiting to strike with
Cupids romantic arrows
And breed inside our hearts
The beauty that love has in store.
However for me, the arrow
Always seems to miss
And strike another heart
That may have not wanted to
Find this thing called love.
I’ve come close once
To hear wedding bells chime;
To dance with my love
Both on and off the dance floor;
And to live my life with my mate.
But I fell short, left with nothing
But the proposal smothering me
Like smoke from a fire choking
Out the life inside my heart,
That had fallen deeply in love.
Two years and four months
Was the duration of time that
My heart yearned for her eyes.
And in less then an hour
My world fell flat.
And today, nine months later,
I stand a man still seeking
His lasting romance covered
With the red rose pedals that lay
Neatly on a bed made for two.
Cupid please take aim at me
Let your arrows of love
Pierce my awaiting heart
And send me beyond
The boundaries of Earth.
Let my heart scale the walls
And rescue the distressed damsel,
Make me the courageous hero
That withstands hell for the love
Of the girl he is sure to win over.
But until that day comes
When I will meet her
I fall back to roam the world
Wondering who she is,
And longing for romantic justice.
But one thing is certain, and that is
When we do finally meet I will
See my world inside your eyes.
Surrounded by the warmth of a heart
Capable of melting the Antarctic icecaps.
She’ll be the reason for withstanding
The shattering pain from my broken heart
Please God, let this woman find me
Before I have to push through
Anymore torturous, agonizing pain.
Please tell me what you think

I could feel every emotion expressed here. Beautiful write Dom.
Stanza 6, line 4 pedals should be petals.
And I really loved Stanza 8.
"Let my heart scale the walls
And rescue the distressed damsel,
Make me the courageous hero
That withstands hell for the love
Of the girl he is sure to win over"
Every woman wants a man who will fight for her with such passion. I hope you find your worthy damsel.
