Feelings fall graciously
from her hand,
as newer notions flap
and open--
rattling tattled thoughts
that bring brown stains
to pain's edges.
She covers sounds
with despair,
sucking regrets
between neglected jaws
pausing only to allow
sorrow to surface
and acknowledge defeat.
She peels off pride
to reveal raw ruin,
running reasons
down her crumbling cares
while woes wade
to the middle of forever.
She counts each ache,
as breaking blames
name criminal causes
and she reaches low
to tempt tomorrow's talk...
until she sits
fitting jig-saw joints
into paper points,
as frozen motives climb out
of her conscience
to deny dirt's decaying lips,
that loiter
within tomb's touch.

Every poem you write invites the reader to read it again and again. The first reading allows the carefully crafted words to tickle the ear. It is with the subsequent readings that the various layers of meaning begin to reveal themselves. You have taken the concept of "artfully" and created a work of art. Thank you for your entry. Peace, Liz
