The house was a beauty.
A Christmas surprise.
There was so many lights,
It put a shine in your eyes.
There was greens and kissing mistletoe.
And lights around the front door.
With red creamy pinsetters
It was hard to tell if one was to stop or go.
The windows were trimmed gaily
With snow from the other side.
Inside there was a candle at each pane.
Saying, "Come inside."
The furniture looked like brand new
And a seat saved just for you.
The tables were filled with holiday cheer.
It was hard to believe children lived here.
Off to the side was the big Christmas tree.
Decorated with treasures for all to see.
Nothing of expense, all done by hand.
For each of them were hung by their little ones.
Under the tree was a village of joy.
It was the set-up by the little ones.
Always moved the houses with a tee-hee.
Along with the fences and the trees.
The mantel had more candles and greens.
But the hearth was scrubbed for the manger.
Little lights, like stars hung from above.
You could almost see Mary's love
The paths in the room lead all to this spot.
For Christmas begins and ends in the heart.
So if you get too wrapped up at this time of year.
Remember at our house God's Love Came in December.
And it last all through the year.

I love the mantel decked with greens and the mention of the Christmas plants, mistletoe and Poinsettia. This gives a good feel of a warm home filled with the real spirit of Christmas. Happy New Year.
