Sister Janet cries
Tries to sit up
In charity hospital bed
With left pet arm and leg
On strike
Left her fourteen days ago
It was a stroke, they say
She may get better
Must get braver
I visit often
Now she listens to my poetry
Captive audience crying
"Its beautiful..."
Inhibitions gone
Affections for handyman husband
Restored, now that only half
of her works
Kissing therapy to pucker lento lips
Two years till Medicaid kicks in
Bassoon dusting in closet
The tension in her busy face
Relaxed in serene femininity
Leaning against my chest
sitting side of bed break
of bored stiff lying
Wondering do I have a similar
Ten year deadline
Baby sister Anita
Married to Cardiologist
pulls strings, soldiers guerrilla style
To exalt every valley and make mountains low
Cushions family the falling stones of
Economic hard times
Picked up steak house tab for my
Spouse's surprise birthday party of twelve
Bill, closer than a brother says
"You would do the same for her
If you had the money
And she had the need..."
Treating my wife like the sister
She promised she would be
A sister is someone
Who is always on your side
Author notes
If you pray, ask God to remember Janet, and restore her
And to send jobs my way.

This poem touched me very much, I nursed my Mum until the end and I also have a sister called Janet and we all became very close and that friendship grows deeper every day.
Thank you for sharing this with me and I hope all is well in your world.

So special ...
as all of your poems are.
How is Janet? Please let me know. We are growing older and of course our vehicles are but temporary. Love, however is the fuel to take us right Home!
Be well Benjamin and may you be popular on the work front.
Love
Myra

I pray, and I will.
This brought tears. I have no words.
Thank you so much for entering my contest.
