year 2008
is mixed bag;
sparks burnt up in sky
which we thought, reach the stars.
as they turned ashes in mid air
people bewildered,
dreams evaporated for all
as crisis after crisis
hit the mankind,
spiralling prices made commodities dear,
as if rubbing salt on wounds.
terrorists have reigned,
in name of religion, nationality and culture.
Some are apparent,
but many subterranean,
human beings,
continue to exploit other's.
mother nature is not spared,
in consequence,
looking to clouds for a rain drop
and also gasping for breath.
shall we be wise,
while welcoming'2009.
lessons learnt,
of unbridled greed
and also,
killing goose,
only deprive eggs for our food.
let us save our earth
lower our selfishness,
realise, earth is not meant,
for humans alone,
It is rich,
when peacock dances on lone rock,
cuckoo sings on a stray branch.
Save life, Save planet
be our dear motto from'2009 onwords.

killing goose,
only deprive eggs for our food.
these lines say alot as does the poem but I really like these lines, great metaphor.
