I walk along these streets I've never been before.
Yet, somewhere in my mind I know I've seen that door.
Was it in a dream or a page in a book
That I have seen this scene. I took a closer look.
I crept inside the store. Old books lined every shelf.
"Hello, come right in." He looked just like an elf.
I said, "You may think this funny, I'm not sure why I'm here.
I felt a silent call. Is there something I should fear?"
The man gave a little chuckle. "I'm the reason that you came.
It's a part of the job. Cupid is the name.
Now don't believe those tales. I've no bow nor those wings.
I've not worn a diaper in years. People think strange things.
I and my two brothers, see we all work together,
Are Big Hope and Little Faith. It's like a spirit tether.
Big Hope's always there to nudge the right direction,
Like at a fork in the road or a busy intersection.
Little Faith is working hard to keep it all in line.
He gets alot of credit although he dosen't leave a sign.
The image that you saw was planted there for you.
I'm sure you think a trick but life is tricky, too.
The nudge you get from us through sight or maybe sound
Helps things to work out right. For now...just turn around."
The woman of my dreams, whose face I couldn't see,
I now met face to face. Was it to be or not to be?
She come in here alot to pour through ancient text.
I'm so focused on this angel I never saw what's coming next.
"Ah, my dear Miss Lee, I've a book by our Anne Harding.
It's good to see you out since your dear sweet mother's parting."
I quizzed, "Excuse me sir, where's the man helping me?"
"Sir, I am the only one since 1943."
" Are you alright?", she asked. "You look as if in shock."
"Yes, I think I am. I just need to talk to Spock."
Before she could ask why we made some conversation.
On the outside I was cool, on the inside jubilation.
We've been married for a year and visit that same store.
So Cupid smiled that day. I couldn't ask for more.
Big Hope and Little Faith have shown from time to time.
With this poetic life, they give rhythm to the rhyme.
Next time you get that flash that feels like deja'vu,
Then know that these three boys have come to visit you.
Now abideth faith, hope, love, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.
