Just Like Daniel

A 12 yr old kid in Middlesex
gets Bored
With Halo 3 on X Box
So he fiddles with his PS3
Then decides to go bowling on his Wii
And when his parents say
"It's time for bed, goodnight"
He sleeps beside his ds lite
And when his friends have stopped IMs
He shuts down his laptop for the night
Remotely fades out his bedroom light,
And wonders if he
Could have a HD widescreen 32" LCD TV
Just like Daniel.

A 12 yr old kid in Mumbai
gets bored
That his whole Family rely
Upon him to earn a wage
At such a tender age
And when his parents say
"You should work, it is right"
He sleeps sound tonight
Huddled on the factory floor in rags
Beside the garments with Designer tags
And happy Shoppers with Designer bags
Feed his family
Who provided for him the best that they could be
Just like Daniel.



(footnote: the remote fading lightswitch that I bought on a whim cos my son loves gadgets like that, well, that was worth three weeks wages for the kid in Mumbai, trivial, isn't it? Yeah, except that kid in Mumbai might have been a bit more grateful and impressed!  But I know Daniel hasn't got one. Go Figure? )
