As I walk amid the strune remains,
My mind shivers and sadness reigns
They lay lifeless, remnants of what they were
Burnt and now almost unrecognizable
I sigh deeply and remember.
Once they were full of life, so full
Then on the one night of the year
The last night, so dark and quiet
They come into their own, they explode
Colours, too many to name, so pretty
Designs they make, display for all
Then in a few seconds these painters of the sky
They die, they lay discarded, memories only.
I thank these now decaying beings
For the night was a success
Now the New Year is here,
I thank you fireworks for bringing it here..
