Goodbye.

We used to walk barefoot
Down the forest path
hand in hand
Never looking back
The birds would sing
Up above
Hidden in the trees
Sometimes we'd see a morning dove
I always wondered
How long it would last
I didn't want to judge
By my past
But I feared the day would come
When our love would be lost
So fearful was I
That I didn't even think of the cost
Now I no longer walk down that path
Too heavy on my heart is this load
I've said goodbye
To fairytales, even the yellow brick road

    This was sad to read

And yet, I guess all good things do come to an end; I like the way you took this, interweaving the idea of the yellow brick road with a fairytale - nice creative thoughts there!

    Thanks for entering

I think when you allow thoughts of fear and worry to be so present, you tend to bring about what it is you are thinking so much about. But this is so very well expressed. A good ending. Nice take on the prompt. Thank you for entering my contest. :-)

I hope this is just your writers imagination here and not reality. This has plenty of soft emotion without being too dramatic. Nicely done. Sheila
