scars run miles deep
beyond flesh and breast
and bone
holes left rubbed raw
healing cant even get close enough
to begin to work its magic
eyes sit on shelves
while fingers fiddle
with possibilities
broken bones
broken hearts
a red stained reminder
on shiny paper
(just in case i was to forget)
((you know where i came from))
standing before a mirror
like it was a lover
pushing and pulling
and prying
i let me
out
when its someone else
looking
when its someone else
touching
i am reminded
only i know
the secrets inside
like the broken teeth
and empty holes
like the forever-bruise
and chipped bone
like ribboned-raw scars
lying under belly
above breaking point
the ones that whisper to me
to grow up already
and deal with what life
has dealt
and the ones that scream at me
to stay down
where its safe
for only warriors should go to war
and today
i am no warrior
just wounded and hoping

oh sweet goddess
it's the most amazing liberating thing in the world. its a festival for womyn only in michigan once a year. lot's of bands, in a forest for a week. workshops on anything you can think of, more diverse womyn than you ever imagined (talk circles with bitch!) google it! this year headliners are amy ray, leslie & the ly's, elvira kurt, melissa ferrick, girl in a coma, goddes and she and about 15 others. there is no really accurate way to describe it. if you want, i have a facebook with albums of my trip last year. it's like a retreat...heaven
