Lol Yeah Coffee will do that for sure. It's really short but I like it because in those few lines you hit it right on the nail!
The only thing I ask though I know what option you used if you don't mind mind confirming it in your author notes? Thanks

I like coffee and when my muse is hard at work it keeps me going well into the night.
At other times it's a no -no. Many thanks for your comments.

This made me laugh - I've stopped drinking coffee now, mostly, and the smell of a freshly made pot of coffee torments me! I like this.

I still drink too much of the stuff and have spent a few nights writing when I should have been sleeping. I do love the smell of freshly brewed coffee though.

    "Many sleepless nights"
    and many almost productive days.

I am not as heavily caffinated now that I have retired but still consume far too much. But it is my only vice. Really. Really!

    Great poem!

I would like to reduce the amount of coffe I drink but even though retired I still drink too much of the stuff. I am grateful for your comments and wish Caffeine was my only vice, alas, it is not so.

I've had to give coffee up pretty much because I don't sleep well. But when I worked as a speechwriter it kept me awake for many a long and lonely night.

I am much the same as you john, coffee keeps me awake. However when you are writing something long and complex, and you are going to be up anyway, the caffeine does stimulate the brain. But When I do that I feel like a wrung out dishcloth the next day. I shall stick to Tea [eary grey or lemon , sir? Or perhaps, herbal?]

OOOOOOOOooh! Coffee! Something to get one all revved up and drive others insane. I drink little of the stuff if I can help it. Always very weak. Great piece that says it exactly as it is. Too much caffeine in a lot of things these days and I bet it accounts for a lot of violence to. Good luck in the contest, mate.

Coffee, I drink a lot of it. When my muse is not on holidays i can have a big mug of coffee and write most of the night. Not a practice I would recommend as the next day is long and drawn out. Love your comments.

I can give my personal guarantee that its not good for you. Keeps the brain going long after the body is too knackered to stay up.
