Soul~less rubber lies before me, still and compliant
Easy breath fills the cavernous chest
1 thousand 2 thousand 3 thousand... breathe
Repeat.
Unprepared for chaos I walk proudly out the door
Donning my new certification, certain of my practiced skill.
Hair raising screams corner me to the task of
Putting my little card to the test.
Mind racing through the steps,
Second guessing every move,
Desperate for some help... that is no where to be found.
Hero's make their entrance, my body wet with sweat
Tears run rapid with their own intent.
Bone shaking panic now easily takes control.
Author notes
This is my experiance with C.P.R.
The ending is fitting as it was just like that... over.
C.P.R. and first aid class in no way prepares a person for the intense feelings of responsiblity over life and death. If I had to do it again I would of course do my best but I can't say that I would want to ever experiance that again.
