The longest farewell
ever to be spoken
began with “I love you”
now ends with “we’re broken”.
A love such as this
should never have started
but continues regardless
until we are parted.
Each day becomes longer
we grow further apart
I knew this would happen
why did I let it start?
Maybe the need
for the longest farewell
filled a hole at some point
now it leaves us in hell.
We tear at each other
making scars that will show
the game is all over
but neither will go.
Perhaps it is time
we admit with remorse
the longest farewell
has run its full course.

This sounds like a very personal and traumatic ending of a relationship, regardless of the prompt. It's so very sad and I feel for you, but sometimes things don't work out for reasons we don't see straight away but down the track we realize it is for the best. May life give you peace.

Everyone is capable, I truly believe that. This has good rhythm and flow, you are becoming adept at rhyme.
