Furtive lies the ace
that hides behind the queen.
Waiting to be counted
the cards as yet unseen.
Heartbeats race as money grows
two nines begin to smile
the dealer takes a breath
chips begin to pile.
Two nines reveal a third
the ace accepts a king
eyes begin to bulge
alarm bells start to ring
Nines have now become a four
they sit in hand and wait
did they see a jack
what will be their fate ?
Four nines caress the mighty pot
the pulse begins to race.
Ten, jack, queen and king
and last the royal ace.

I do like this a lot!!! My word you describe the excitement wonderfully. My heart was racing until the end. I wanted to punch the air. I also liked the picture you added. Good luck in the contest.
