snowstranger

+

a bundle of red-specked
snow arouses curiosity;
fever-eyes and iced limbs,
sympathy

sleeping hands unconsciously claw
jewels; from dreamspeak i know them,
imitation ithaqua-eyes. silent
affirmation of the death-hunt

your last goodbye -
a laughing dismissal of my
well-intentioned offer, and
the faintest touch of skin that
will never be warm again

Prompt: Melisandre by jezebel - http://jezebel.deviantart.com/art/Melisandre-35941225

Ithaqua, or the windwalker, is one of the Old Ones of the Cthulhu Mythos - in my opinion one of the best descriptions can be found in Brian Lumley's short story "Born of the Winds". The most important bits (for this poem) are that he had "carmine eyes" and also that nobody who comes into contact with him can ever feel cold again.
