My dad said the same kind of thing about burnt toast - that is was "good roughage." Thrifty.

she is right in a way tho....when i have overdosed on paracetamol in the past the first thing hospitals did was give me charcoal to eat to absorb as much of the pills as possible before it could be digested! so in a wierd way your mum was right!!

My Dad's perverse "helpful" demonstration of "how to REALLY cook something special" was.....Chicken Othello! We unappreciative children (six years and under) chose not to "know what you are missing!"

    Good One!

I needed a laugh before bed! Thanks for this.
You just reminded me that when my Dad was sick he'd say the same thing & eat burnt toast & drink tea.
