The moon watched
fingers create ripples --
bathed in silver,
each breath mercury.
We froze
for a moment, the shadow--
an owl caught
by the back lighting of Luna.
2.
Light is everything.
Shadows are never born
without a vision of light.
Perhaps without stars
the night would never have been born.
3.
Her laughter rides upon my bass.
There could not be harmony unless
she were here to create it. I trace
memories, I find, in the muscles of her back.
She catches my hands, bids them
search her face as she kisses my palms.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude.
Joy blossoms in the night
causing the stars to shimmer.
She drinks my tears and smiles.
4.
I am better for knowing her. I laugh
as she spills cherry blossoms over my head.
Innocence is a gift that surrounds joy
making each pulse of the heart
a bell resonating with life.

Everything in science is available to be tested. Love is available to be experienced.
Please tell me what you think, what it makes you feel, how you are moved.

I enjoyed them all but felt "2" was unneeded in regards to the rest.
Your imagery and emotion are weaved extremely well together -
-
You know, its funny, but I thought 2 was the most important one. For what creates what? Is love just a added bonus to life's requiem? Does its lack create something as much as its existence? I am glad you enjoyed the weave of the moment when the light comes on and dreams are cast as real.

this was intense. not in a thriller sort of way, but it kept me hooked and fascinated the whole time, so in that sort of sense it was an intense read.
the words were lovely lovely -
-
Thank you. When love first strikes us, it is intense. To pay me the compliment that it kept you focused and interested the entire time is touch me deeply. I only hope to write well enough to accomplish this. It is truly a gift to know I have.
Peace & LIght,

You loved science
does that mean you no longer love it
Science is the art of the objective. All is testable and defined by the results of the tests. A paradigmn is built of the physical universe defined by cause and effect.
Love is objective, and while how it is expressed in physical world may be tested, often we are only left with our experience of the event and our feelings about it. There is little training or science about how to deal with this. We are eithet told it is an art that takes a lot of talent and time to learn or we are told to pray.
Our subjective universe is one where, for us to live rich and full lives, the most training and development must take place. Yet, as a society, we approach this part of our lives side ways and with great trepidition.
It is part of why so many love you. They are learning from your notebooks on the lessons you have taken from life.

Touching
This poem spoke to me. I am in love right now, and am very much changed because of it. I believe your poem has captured what I have been failing to capture about love. Its such a powerful emotion, one that I find hard to harness into words Well done!

A couple of things I would like to share with you. Thanks for being willing to share as deeply as you have.
It takes practice to be able to be explicit and clear, as well as vibrant and alive about what we have experienced. Keep practicing.
Love touches us and we are changed. It is one of the truths of the spirit. You are becoming wise in the art of love and life -- for is not life but the discovery of the best way to express and share the love you possess.
Peace & Light,
Tom B.

Not exactly what I was expecting when I read the title but a good write none the less. The metaphors youused here provide great imagery... good luck in the contest
-
-
I love science, good science. Unfortunately, most of what we see practicecd is bad science. There is a great deal of room for subjective thinking, but it is not science -- it is art. Love is an art.

Thanks for finding so much to enjoy and taking the time to share that with me. May your efforts reap a great harvest.
Peace & Light,
Tom B.

Super Great Job
I thought that this poem was beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Your metaphors were great . I'm not quite sure why you numbered your stanza's because there are only 4 so it's easily figured out. I think saying "I trace memories, I find, in the muscles of her back." would sound better then what wrote, but that is just my opinion. But all in all I would have to agree with the last person to comment, this is a gorgeous poem.

-
-
Thanks, I thought I had left a comment. I appreciate the editiorial comment. I value the insight. The poem is broken into vingettes to increase the contrasts and to help the resonance between the verses.
Peace and Light,

2.
Light is everything.
Shadows never born
without a vision of light.
Perhaps without stars
the night would never have been born.
I love the last two lines especially.
this is gorgeous.
however, 'shadows never born without a vision of light'
isn't really a sentence.
it might be stronger with a verb. -
-
Editorial help always appreciated. I installed the missing verb. Thanks.
The vingette: a meditative look at science and optics. Darkness by definition is the abscense of light. Is evil then the abscense of good? One of my lines of thought. These things I write are diamonds of my many layers of philosophical, mystical, scientific, sociological, etc lines of thought. For instance lately it has been, for me, exploring a lot of biblical historical studies. My wife calls me an artistic nerd. I am rambling, but this is the coal from which my diamonds are born.
Thanks for the detail of editorial review. Thanks for enjoying my humble efforts.
May this new year unfold full of wonder and joy for your heart and soul.
Love, Tom B.

I added a reply to your last comment to me.

I saw. I am but a conduit. No more. When I am fortunate the words touch many.

May this time of newness be strewn with cherry blossoms for your heart, nectar, and wind chimes to dance the breezes of your soul....

the gift of friendship is the delight born of trust and the joy found in sharing. Yours has been a big present and filled my arms with glee. May this year lead to many rich harvests and the sky full of the song of birds.

lovely.

Understated and slightly rare. The three rabbits at the end perhaps a to bit sweet. Tends to pull the aroma down with a treaclely after taste. Still the initial impact to the ego is all that most care for. I shall have to learn to be more of a egotist and not delve into the meaning of my own words like they are more than calling cards for attention. God I sound pathetic. Enough now, off to bed with ye.

Wishing you everything in the new year that you haven't yet had

-
-
You are already wandering around in a new day and watching it come to it heights and I am not even into the end of this one yet. Strange universe when you can talk to someone in tomorrow and not be there.

Of course where I am is never where you have been so I am not out of your past but still in your present. All too confusing. Should of never started thinking about it. Well, luv -- Let us both make it the best damn year we know how. Whadda ya say?

I love how the light is witnessed as elemental...
then how it spills between two, intimate,
causing those same celestial elements to pause
and reflect on what lumen mortals can shed.

People, it seems are often blinded by the Light or simply worship the Light. Rarely do they look to see what it creates. Without life there is no death, not the other way around. Each beginning creates an end. I took this and contrasted it against the joy in realizing a beginning. Rare is a person who sees more than just the joy.

Pretty! Poems one after another filled with beautiful images and thoughts. This would be a great poem for the beginning of spring because it's filled with thoughts of life and rebirth. Lestways, that's what impression I was getting. I loved the last one the best. That one left the strongest impression on me.
-
-
Thanks for sharing your joy with this. Yes, it is a spring poem of sorts. We are reborn when we fall in love. I wanted to catch the magic and realization in this piece. Glad you enjoyed.

I wanted this to be about the moment when the realization strikes. It is real. Everything changes and the world suddenly becomes innocent, there is a purity. We are not always fortunate to be aware of the moment. Often it only occurs to us after the moment has passed. I hope this sparked that memory. It would mean I succeeded in illuminating the unexpressible.

BREATH TAKING
to experience the wonders of love is to truly taste the sweetness of the innocence of life...to explore its wonders and feel the gentle emotions rocking you as softly as though upon the wind swept waves...sighs...Master Poet, you do amaze me with your gift of tender words for the heart to rest upon

-
-
I guess you could say I wanted to capture the moment of realization, when it becomes real. Part of why I opened with the wisdom of the owl and the exploration of Light.
Your joy in response, I can only give thanks for . There is magic in joy that is richer and stronger than most will ever know. For like all great strength it is gentle and humble.
Love,
Tom B.

Gorgeous, dear man.
I was left wrapped in sighs and breathless.
Thank you so much for this "beauty" spilled across my screen this morning. The metaphors in this are absolutely sumptuous!! A beautiful penning to start my day. Love it, and you my dear friend.

We are moths in the Light. Quick and vibrant. It is better to let our beauty shine in our short time then be caught up in anger at the shortness of life. Each moment can shower us with its forevers. May your New Year be a vision of joy as possibilties awaken and show new paths to adventure and love.
Peace & Light,
Tom B.

The third section particularly called to me... loved the entire poem though, *sigh*. Such a tender mixing of appeal to emotion and appeal to reason. You have spoken truth...

So much of the ways we are changed, made larger is from our experience. You cannot just dial it in. You have to be present. Then what appears silly to someone watching, is known as sacred in the hearts of the participents. "Schrodinger's Cat"

If we have someone to share the bells in life, how blessed we are. They call us to the resonance of joy and moments that become part of forever. How sad it is that some never listen to them; but only sleep.

-
-
Unfortunately there are those whose fear is almost greater than their desire. They take life in small doses so they can insure nothing untoward comes to light. This poem is about Light and the recognition that when we love truly we are on a spiritual journey. Discovering harmony and the sound of a bell's peal, carrying one out past the edge of forever, is an epiphany that only makes sense to those who have been there.

Love, Tom B.

Your poems always make me smile. This is no exception to my theory, that you are a very special soul. We are all richer for your insights and experiences shared. Happy New Year to you and yours...

Aww-w-w
you are being too nice. This was a chance to play with Light - Physics and the moment when love is recognized. Of course this kind of play my be light hearted but is always dead serious
May this New Year be the one where dreams blossom and possibilties become clear paths.
Love,
Tom B.

You are a talented Soul
Everything spoken with such eloquence and rememberance. Is it future, you speak of or past? Whatever the case may be you are a delight to read. Bravo to you with a standing ovation. May the fruits of the spirit stand fast and hold you in 2009. My love for you is as old as dirt and as new as the New Year! -
-
This is an idealization. I am fighting off the last of a cold. Wanted to catch a moment when suddenly it all becomes clear and condenses itself into a vision.
When it happens everything makes sense even when the explanation makes no sense at all.

The Paint of your Words
Hallmark of greatness
you can take us out of doors,
through the colors of your visuals.
The dance of your phrase
Love, Joy, Peace,
Long Suffering,
Gentleness, Goodness,
Faithfulness, Meekness.
Self control,
The Master is seeking deeper
He seeks not yours, but you.
Happy New Year 2009.
