Winter Says Goodbye To Fall

Old man winter is about to arrive
taking his toll upon mother nature
as seen upon some of the branches
of the remaining oak trees still standing.

The bark almost all gnawed away
upon the thin and worn branches.
Winters animals had scavenged for food
some to eat then, the rest to store!

The old oak trees still standing proud
casting an ocassional shadow across,
not allowing the warmth of the sun
to struggle through and warm all below!

Early mornings will be covered in sweet dew
as the sun beams down it's brightness
kissing upon each tiny blade of grass
urging it to shine as bright as a diamond.

Summers beauty with all its great warmth
now gone for the season, yet will return
leaving us ablaze with a great vividness
of all of falls colors; red, golds and oranges.

Feeling so refreshed, I turn to head back home
when I suddenly noticed a hush had formed
snowflakes were falling, so delicate and lacy,
as winter reminded me to say goodbye to fall!

There are a few typos, and I'm not entirely sure what 'gnawled' is suppsoed to mean, but, all in all, this was a very good poem.

I liked the use of satire when describing the animals' actions, as well as the personification and unique descriptions of all that you were thinking of when bidding autumn adieu.

This was very interesting, and light and friendly, with enough dark undertones to make it a deep and worthwhile read. Thank you for sharing this!

Would you mind pointing out the errors you found? Gnawed means chewed upon. Rose
