Destroyed by impotent desire
I strode the empty sidewalks,
Sidestepping the trajectories
Of stuporous strangers
Who will never know my name
Politely overstepping
Shards of splintered souls
In the form of cigarette butts
And absinthe bottles,
I speculate the girl
Who paraded her jaded pride,
Waving a flag of discarded condoms
At the disdainful forebearance
Of her last ticket out.
She had such potential.
Author notes
Prompt: I used today's and yesterday's Word of the Day from Dictionary.com. They were "Sacrilege" and "Ramble". Not exactly the most complimentry words, but I made my choice, and when I found what I had to work with, I didn't want to back down.

Firstly, you have one of my favourite prompts in this contest. I throughly enjoyed this. The fluency and choice of diction is spot on. Thanks for entering.
